The raspberry pi is a small credit card sized single board computer that can run Linux and can perform many task, just like hosting this website. over the years I have had raspberry pi's set up for running things gaming emulation, NAS drive (network attatch storgae device, minecraft servers and even a fully working desktop enviroment. Even with these I am just scratching the surface of what they can do. Pretty much everything I have done is from watching youtube vidoes. There are some tallented people out there that have made some crazy and interesting things that take adavntage of the GPIO pins and some coding in python like plant watering system that read the moisure level of the soil. Or home automation and magic mirrors that display weather, news while your doing your hail in the morning.
